How to incorporate your rich heritage on your wedding day
Scottish Heritage Meets Bayside Bliss: Cameron and Rachel’s Intimate Wedding
Written by Ketrina Coffey Celebrant / Photos by Romana Saeheng
Cameron and Rachel’s intimate wedding at Cleveland, was set against the picturesque backdrop of the bayside. A perfect spring weekday morning, with a cool breeze sweeping in off the water.
It was essential to share their special day with their closest loved ones. Rachel’s two sisters stood by her side – one as Maid of Honour, the other as a witness – and Cameron’s brother took his place as Best Man. The bride’s mother had the honour of walking her down the aisle, super special.
And that first look!! Cameron chose to turn around only when Rachel reached the aisle. The moment their eyes met was simply magical, there wasn’t a dry eye amongst the guests. Their ceremony was certainly a reflection of them: simple, heartfelt, and personal. And they included a ‘Warming of the Rings,’ where all their loved ones had a chance to hold the rings, and ‘warm’ them with well wishes for the future.
As an acknowledgement to Cameron’s Scottish heritage, not only did he and his brother wear kilts, but we also performed a historical and traditional element; ‘Tying of the Knot’ with a beautiful handwoven cord, specially made for the occasion. Though they hadn’t practiced tying the knot beforehand, there was an air of excitement and anticipation. All fingers were crossed as they pulled their hands away, and, to everyone’s delight, the knot tied perfectly – obviously they were meant to be!
“I am the luckiest, and I couldn’t imagine growing old with anyone else.”
After the ceremony, came the group and bridal photos, taking advantage of the bayside views, the beautiful fig tree and along the water’s edge. Our photographer Romana, exceeded expectations by sending them sneak peeks before they had even finished lunch – an extra special touch as they were able to share their photos before flying out the next day for their honeymoon… back to ‘Bonny Scotland’ of course.
A heartfelt congratulations to Cameron and Rachel from the entire Elope Brisbane team. May your love continue to flourish, tied together by the strongest of knots. Enjoy your honeymoon!!!
